June Mission Teams

Greetings from Las Vegas! The work of Redemption continues as we are building relationships with individuals and families here in the city.

We have two mission teams coming to assist in the work of Redemption Baptist here in Las Vegas the later part of this month. We have a team coming from Longview Point Baptist Church from Hernando, MS and a team from Crosspointe Baptist Church from Millington, TN.

Please pray for these teams as they move through neighborhoods praying and conducting surveys. Pray that they would encounter "Families of Peace" who would be willing to participate in or host a home Bible study in the coming days.

We are grateful for their willingness to come and serve in the work here with us in these exciting days!

Serving Him,
Neal and Barry

March Mission Teams Update

Redemption was blessed to have two mission teams with us in March to assist us with our ongoing effort to identify individuals and households that may have an interest in establishing home Bible studies leading to house churches.

We had teams from Jones County Junior College Baptist Student Union and Hernando Baptist Church Student Ministry Team.

These two teams were able to knock on 1,197 doors and through this contacts we were able to identify 41 individuals our households that would like more information about starting a bible study in their homes.

Neal and Barry will begin follow-up with the 41 in the coming days. Please pray that we will be able to connect with those that God is calling out to be a part of the Redemption Baptist Network of house churches.

Spring Break Mission Teams

We are excited to have a mission team from the Baptist Student Union at Jones County Junior College (Ellisville, MS) and a team from Hernando Baptist Church (Hernando, MS) in Las Vegas with us this week.

These spring break missionaries, totaling 24 in number, will be assisting us in surveying a community in Spring Valley near Southern Summerlin. They will also be joining in ministry projects with the Las Vegas Rescue Mission as well as Broken Chains, a ministry with the homeless here in LV.

We pray that these efforts will honor God and offer us opportunities to connect with the hurting and lost people of the city.

Please pray for all that these teams will be a part of this week!

If you have a mic or would be willing and able to help purchase one, please let us know. Send us a message at ncreecy@yahoo.com or barry.tweedy@gmail.com.

Thanks so much!

Praying and Meeting

We have been praying for the days that we are now living in....we are connecting with the community around us and seeking for additional ways to begin building relationships. Neal and Barry are seeking to secure jobs to supplement income through substitute teaching positions in both public and private schools as well as some retail opportunities.

We have met with some of our core group individuals and further cast the vision for what is in store with Redemption in the coming days. We have established a transitional stewardship team to oversee the finances of Redemption.

We are looking forward to having our initial Bible study on February 13(updated date) as we get underway. We may be starting a second group within the month.

Continue to pray for Neal and Barry as they seek to communicate the vision and strategy for Redemption. They will be participating in an evangelism workshop on February 9 and the missions conference "Hope for the World" at the end of the month at Hope Baptist Church.

A word of praise - The Tweedys have a renter in their home in Hernando for at least a year. A major answer to prayer!

If you have an interest in being a part of our prayer network, please sign-up here on our blog or call Barry at 702.306.7524.

If you would like to make a financial gift, make checks payable to "Hope Baptist Church" and please indicate in the memo for “Redemption Baptist” and send to:

End of Week 1

Well, we are at the end of one week and almost have everything in place in the house. We have new bank accounts, but still have much to do with job interviews, drivers licenses, car tags, smog inspections, car insurance, renters insurance....whew, but all is well! We are so thankful to a Mighty God for His call and His provision. Excited to see all that He is going to do in the coming days.

We Have Arrived!!!

Dear Friends:

We have finally arrived in Las Vegas! We finished unloading the trucks thanks to all the help that showed up today. We were blessed with great help both on the Mississippi and Las Vegas ends of the trip. We are excited to be here and ready to finish getting the house in order. Here are a few ways you can be praying for us:

1. Please continue to pray for the Tweedy's house to sell.

2. Pray for Barry and Neal as they apply to be substitute teachers here in Las Vegas. This would help us pay the bills while giving us the freedom to be off when we need to be.

3. Pray for our initial meetings. We hope to have a planning meeting in the next week or so.

We appreciate all of the prayers and help! We look forward to seeing what all the Lord is going to do this next year.

In Him,

Neal

I'm in Vegas this week.

Hey Everyone:

I am in Vegas this week doing some work for Redemption. I had a great meeting with the staff at Hope Baptist, who is our local sponsor church. Hope Baptist has agreed to help manage our finances until we are ready to take them on ourselves. This means that they will be the place that all donations for Redemption should be sent. If you would like to support Redemption financially, you can make a check out to Hope Baptist Church and mail it to:

Hope Baptist Church
Attn: Maria Reed
8215 S. Eastern Suite 100
Las Vegas, NV 89123

Be sure to mark on the check that it is for “Redemption Baptist.”

On Thursday I will be meeting with several families who are interested in being a part of Redemption. They already live in the area and have a heart to see it reached with the Gospel. Please pray that the Lord would bless this meeting in a great way.

Give Barry or me a call if you desire for us to come and share with your church about what God is doing in Las Vegas.

I guess that is it for now. Thank you for all of your prayers and support!

In Him,

Neal

Thursday Update

Hey Everyone:

What a day! As the week comes to an end, we are tired but excited about the doors the Lord has opened for us. Barry and I met with a group who may end up being our core group for Redemption. It was a great meeting and we are looking to have another one next month because there were several couples who could not make it tonight. A lot of church plants struggle to get a core group, yet it seems the Lord is dropping one into our laps!

The team finished up surveying tonight. As part of the surveying, the teams have been getting prayer requests from the people they meet. We have written cards for the people we have prayed for to let them know that we have prayed for them. We will go and deliver the cards tomorrow evening to wrap up the weeks ministry.

Let me thank everyone for your encouraging comments and for all of the prayers. It has been a great trip. Tomorrow evening we will pack up and head to the airport. We will arrive in Memphis Saturday morning. We have had a great week, but we are excited to get home!

Wednesday Update

Hey Everyone:

It has been a great day! Barry and I had two important meetings. The first was with Mike and Shane from Hope Baptist Church. We had a wonderful lunch and worked out the details of them serving as our local sponsor. We then went to a meeting with the local director of missions, Harry Watson. Harry helped us improve our church planting proposal and encouraged us in what we are doing. It is good to have such great partners here in Vegas!

Tomorrow is the big day where we meet with a group of folks who are interested in the church plant. We are hoping to have a strong core group emerge from tomorrow’s meeting. The team will also be doing more survey work. They have done such a great job and we have had a great time serving the Lord.

Sorry for not uploading pictures, but I was away from the team most of the day. I should have some new pictures tomorrow. Again, thank you for all of your prayers!

Tuesday

Hey Everyone:

It has been another great day. We were able to do a lot of surveying as well as some folw-ups with people who have shown interest in the church plant. Besides the church planting work, we took some time to see Hoover Dam.

Tomorrow is an important day as Barry and I will be meeting with local church and associational leaders. Please pray that our meetings wil go well as we continue to build partnerships here in Las Vegas.

Viva LasVegas

Hey Everyone:

What a day! The Lord is blessing in great and wonderful ways. I got to do a follow up visit with a family who met our team that was out here two weeks ago. They have been praying for a church in their area for a while now. Not only are they interested in the plant, but on Thursday night, we will be meeting with a group of folks who are possibly interested in being a part of the plant. Please pray for Barry and me as we meet with this group and as they pray about being a part of Redemption.

The rest of the team has done a great job! The temperature today reached 110˚F, and yet they braved the heat to continue doing survey work. The team went and helped out with the “House of Light” inner-city ministry. They also had a chance to check out some of the sights here in Las Vegas.

I guess that is it for tonight. Stayed tuned tomorrow for more updates and pictures.

Day 2 - OBC Vegas 2010

Hey Everyone:

It has been a great day in Las Vegas. This morning started off rough, and we were late for church, but we were blessed to worship at Hope Baptist. It was so encouraging to see a large crowd of people who are hungry for the Word of God. We also got to see three people baptized at service. Knowing that 95% of the city is unchurched, seeing people come to Christ was a great blessing!

This evening we began our survey work. We had a great opportunity to talk with local people and even pray for issues they are dealing with in their lives. Tomorrow we will be helping with a Hispanic ministry here in downtown Vegas. We will then go back out surveying in the evening.

We appreciate all of your prayers! The Lord is already opening doors for us and we are having a great time serving. We will share more with you tomorrow.

Neal
